A Birth Story

The drs. were worried that Joshua was too small so they decided to induce me at 37. 5 weeks. At 6pm on Wed. Feb. 10th we went to the hospital to start the induction. They started cervidil at 7pm and contractions started at about 8pm. The nurse was shocked by how quickly they started. I ended up having contractions all night, but by morning was only dilated to 3 cm. So they started pitocin. Contractions were regular, but still I wasn't progressing very quickly so they broke my water at about 10 am. I got an epidural by 10:30 am. Around 1:00 I was fully dilated and just had to wait to labor down. Eric, our friend Jen, and I just hung out watching Numbers and chatting until about 2 when the nurse wanted me to start pushing. About an hour later Joshua was here. I think he's pretty perfect! :-)

Busy...busy...busy

Only 27 days to go...hard to believe. Next week we will be considered full term. Next week we have another growth ultrasound to make sure our little guy is growing the way he should... Pray he is bigger than the 10th percentile! Next week I start transitioning out of the preschool and into my new jobs as stay at mom, sub coordinator, and office manager for Eric's tutoring company that he is starting this summer.

What is that you say...Eric's tutoring company...well I'll have him post a little something about that another day... he's a little busy right now. We just had to move his entire classroom to a new classroom because our school is consolidating campuses and they needed his room for a preschool room. Our dear friends helped Eric last night move all of his desks and supplies down to his new room. Such a blessing...because I'm pretty much useless moving boxes right now. :-) Eric will start teaching in his new room on Monday. Pray for the transition to be smooth.

Update...

I figured it was about time I updated. Especially with a new little guy on the way I'm sure everyone will want to know what he is up to! :-)
Here is the newest picture of him. Isn't he adorable... of course I'm already a little partial to him.

Right now his favorite toy is his foot, and his favorite activity is kicking his mommy in the ribs and then trying to jump out through her skin. He is a little guy so Mommy gets to go see him move once a week for a month.

This little guy is already so loved. All of his friends and family have showered him with gifts and Mommy and Daddy are so thankful!

Most of our thoughts and lives are already moving towards this baby, but we are still both teaching Eric- 6th grade and Sarah- preschool. My last day is Feb. 12th. Then I begin to transition into being a full time mommy. I'm so excited, but a little nervous as well! Prayer would be appreciated! I promise to keep you all posted on all of the new adventures our growing family is going to be having!

Exciting weekend

This weekend we were quite busy. It started with going to the highschool's performance of 12 Angry Men. They did a great job! The director created a theater in the round experience and it was new for me. The real excitement occured after the play when there was smoke billowing from the art room. I guess the kiln was too close to some papers and started a small fire. Luckily it was caught quickly and there was very little damage...just a lot of smoke. Quite the excitement! Saturday we went to a Marquette University basketball game with some friends from school. We made the mistake of sitting with the opposing team and that created a little bit of tension at times. But it was a fun time with friends anyways.

In other news... I was having some trouble hearing out of my left ear...I had a sinus infection and thought I developed an ear infection. I went to the doctor and come to find out I had messed up my ear drum somehow. About 10 days later I went back, because I still couldn't hear and had to go to an ear, nose, and throat doctor to find out what was wrong. 5 min of talking, 10 min of checking, and 1 tuning fork later, I found out I just had fluid behind my ear and the doctor gave me some chipmunk excerises and the cottonball sensation is gone! Praise the Lord!

We had out to Grand Rapids on Wedsneday for some much needed family time!!! We are going to be taking the train...always a fun time! Wish you all a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving!

Answer to Prayer and a prayer request

Ever since we moved to Milwaukee we have been trying to find a church. We having been praying about this and recently felt like we should go back to a church we attended back in August. We were welcomed with open arms. The pastor and his wife visited with us on Friday and answered all the questions we had. Today we were invited to a family's house for lunch and it was so nice to get to know people and be a part of fellowship again. It is new church plant and it is exciting to be a part of a new work as well. Thank you all for your prayers!

This past Friday, Eric's mom was readmitted to the hospital with an infected bedsore. Please be praying for her she is in a lot of pain and is very discouraged right now. It is God's grace that allowed them to catch it before the infection had spread throughout her body. Hope fully the infection will clear soon and it will heal without the need of surgery!

Funny preschool quote: One rainy day we couldn't go outside for recess and on child asked why, a little girl piped up, "because it is puddlely out"

Energy Saving

One of Eric's favorite things to do is to find ways to save energy. Usually these involve saving money...but tonight we went to Target for one thing and walked out with a cartful of energy saving curtains. Not that I'm complaining...I like them...I was just shocked that my very frugal husband wanted to spend money. I think we are going to like these curtains and they are very versatile. We bought three different types...below are the ones we bought. The brown are already hanging in our living room...I really like them...they are chocolate. The greenish blue are for our bedroom and the red is going to go in the hall to separate the rooms.
