Exciting weekend

This weekend we were quite busy. It started with going to the highschool's performance of 12 Angry Men. They did a great job! The director created a theater in the round experience and it was new for me. The real excitement occured after the play when there was smoke billowing from the art room. I guess the kiln was too close to some papers and started a small fire. Luckily it was caught quickly and there was very little damage...just a lot of smoke. Quite the excitement! Saturday we went to a Marquette University basketball game with some friends from school. We made the mistake of sitting with the opposing team and that created a little bit of tension at times. But it was a fun time with friends anyways.

In other news... I was having some trouble hearing out of my left ear...I had a sinus infection and thought I developed an ear infection. I went to the doctor and come to find out I had messed up my ear drum somehow. About 10 days later I went back, because I still couldn't hear and had to go to an ear, nose, and throat doctor to find out what was wrong. 5 min of talking, 10 min of checking, and 1 tuning fork later, I found out I just had fluid behind my ear and the doctor gave me some chipmunk excerises and the cottonball sensation is gone! Praise the Lord!

We had out to Grand Rapids on Wedsneday for some much needed family time!!! We are going to be taking the train...always a fun time! Wish you all a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving!

Answer to Prayer and a prayer request

Ever since we moved to Milwaukee we have been trying to find a church. We having been praying about this and recently felt like we should go back to a church we attended back in August. We were welcomed with open arms. The pastor and his wife visited with us on Friday and answered all the questions we had. Today we were invited to a family's house for lunch and it was so nice to get to know people and be a part of fellowship again. It is new church plant and it is exciting to be a part of a new work as well. Thank you all for your prayers!

This past Friday, Eric's mom was readmitted to the hospital with an infected bedsore. Please be praying for her she is in a lot of pain and is very discouraged right now. It is God's grace that allowed them to catch it before the infection had spread throughout her body. Hope fully the infection will clear soon and it will heal without the need of surgery!

Funny preschool quote: One rainy day we couldn't go outside for recess and on child asked why, a little girl piped up, "because it is puddlely out"

Energy Saving

One of Eric's favorite things to do is to find ways to save energy. Usually these involve saving money...but tonight we went to Target for one thing and walked out with a cartful of energy saving curtains. Not that I'm complaining...I like them...I was just shocked that my very frugal husband wanted to spend money. I think we are going to like these curtains and they are very versatile. We bought three different types...below are the ones we bought. The brown are already hanging in our living room...I really like them...they are chocolate. The greenish blue are for our bedroom and the red is going to go in the hall to separate the rooms.

Apple picking

It's hard to believe that September is over and we have just finished our first month of school. So far both of us has had a great time and are loving our jobs. I've also been able to play volleyball with some of the other teachers at HCS. It's a fun time, and I'm getting to know some of the other teachers. This week has gotten quite chilly, but overall the weather has been perfect! Two weekends ago the weather was so perfect we went apple picking. Here are some of the pics!

Eric's First Day of School

Well, I have finished the first 2 1/2 weeks of my new job and have been amazed at how fast time has flown by. For those who do not know, I am teaching 6th grade with Heritage Christian Schools. While this job requires a great deal of time (explaining my lack of posting to this blog) I couldn't be happier. Thank you to so many of you whose prayers have helped in bringing us to this point. Please praise God with us for situating Sarah and I in this position. The students are wonderful. I have one little girl who comes up to me every day and thanks me for teaching her and her class. The flat we are living in is small, but it fits us well. I can see God's fingerprint on every element of placing us where we are and am so thankful for His kindness to us.

Who is that crazy 6th grade teacher?

Freebies and Fall

So lately I've become obsessed with free samples... I never realized how many companies out there will give stuff away just so that you will go buy more...it must be effective otherwise why would they do it? Thanks to my friends Tracy and Jessi who have gotten me addicted to one more thing online! :-)

I'm loving the weather right now...it's funny around February and March, I can't wait to get out the flip flops and capris. Sometime around August, I begin to look forward to my fuzzy slippers and sweatshirts. So I am now enjoying cuddling up in my slippers, sweatshirt and fuzzy blanket. I'm weird... :-) The trees are beginning to change, the mornings are cool, and I can't wait to go apple picking (hopefully Saturday). If you have any good ideas for how I can use said apples so that they won't go bad, let me know...so I can have a game plan!

First Day of School

Well today was my first day teaching preschool and I must say...I thoroughly enjoyed myself. :-) They are all super cute and for the most part good listeners. The funniest thing that happened was when one little boy's mom came to pick him up and she said, "Did he have an accident?" I said that he hadn't. "Why is wearing his extra clothes then?" She asked him why he changed and he said ,"Cuz I wanted to." That little stinker had completely changed his clothes (including undies) during naptime. I had come in at the end of naptime so it wasn't my fault....but definitely funny.

I'll have Eric post his first day tomorrow...after he has his first day. :-) They start on Wednesday...lucky! :-)

Settling in...

We are settling in to our new home and new location. This week Eric and I have been going to training for the reading curriculum. It's been really interesting and a nice change from unpacking boxes. I'll post pictures when all of the boxes are out of the living room! :-) We finally got internet at our home today!!! It's been so nice to catch up with everyone on line.

We have also been enjoying the olympics. It's on pretty much all evening...last night I stayed up way too late! :-)

Please be praying for Eric's mom. She's had inflamation around her spine which is causing temporary paralysis. She's been in the hospital for over a week and the doctor's still don't know what is wrong. She has regained some feeling in her legs, but not completely.

New beginnings

Tomorrow is the big day. We are finally going to be settled into our new apartment in Milwaukee, WI. In honor, of this new beginning I thought maybe I should start a new blog. I have no idea if I'll be any better at updating this one or not, but hey...here's to a fresh start in a new state.
